Very Soups

It's cold out there. If your finances are as icy as the weather you can't afford not to incorporate Very Soups into your week. (Very simple, Very cheap and very healthy !). They can be made in the crock pots and greet you when you walk in the front door.


Very Lentil Soup


1 14oz bag dry lentils (soaked overnight if possible)
1 chopped onion
6 cups water
10oz bag of baby carrots
5 stalks of celery chopped
2 tsp salt
3 tsp cumin
Handful of spinach

Add all ingredients together. Cook for 10 hours on low in crock pot.




Very Minestrone Soup


1/2 jar of marinara sauce
Can of chickpeas or cannelloni beans
1 onion diced
10 oz bag of baby carrots
5 peeled stalks of celery
5 peeled potatoes
5 zucchini
1 tsp salt
(Any other vegetables can be added)


Chop all ingredients in food processor or with a knife. Add all ingredients together. Cook for 10 hours on low in crock pot. if you want to save time simply cook all the vegetables without chopping and then before serving use hand held blender to blend. ( Optional - add 1 cup tiny pasta for last half hour of cooking, or cook regular size pasta separately and add)
